Mayo Clinic unveils plans for a lung restoration center
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Mayo Clinic in collaboration with United Therapeutics Corporation is aiming to help fill a deadly gap with a Lung Restoration Center.
They’re scheduled to break ground on the Jacksonville campus at the end of 2015.
Marginal donor lungs that would normally go to waste will be treated with specialized solutions and gases to reverse lung injury and remove excess fluids, restoring them for transplant.
“That is one of the best things to have, another chance at life it’s so amazing,” said Lorraine Mason Wright.
